Custom Orthotics
At Turramurra Podiatry, we’re proud to provide custom orthotics for our patients. Orthotics can be incredibly beneficial to those who suffer from foot pain or pain caused by their foot function.
What Are Custom Orthotics?
Orthotics are shoe inserts that support an abnormal or irregular movement of the foot. These devices can be made from a wide range of different materials and shapes.
Orthotics can be used to treat foot problems, as well as leg, knee and back problems. These items are so much more than simple shoe inserts. They can be customised specifically for your feet and whatever foot condition you may be suffering from.
How To Get Custom Orthotics
Our podiatrists will take a thorough history of your condition followed by a physical examination relevant to you. This may involve joint range of motion tests and muscle testing. We will also look at you walking to analyse your foot function to determine any abnormalities which may be contributing to your pain. If further information is required we may refer you for xray or ultrasound imaging. After these diagnostic methods are taken into account, your podiatrist will make treatment recommendations that can include orthotics.
Do I Need Custom Orthotics?
Not everyone needs to wear orthotics, however if you have flat feet or are experiencing pain caused by the way your foot is functioning,
then orthotics are an excellent solution. It is very important to see a podiatrist first, so they can properly diagnose your condition and provide you with an appropriate orthotic that will best suit you and your feet.
